2 Abalone Shells

Abalone shells are renowned for their iridescent mother-of-pearl interior, featuring shimmering shades of blue, green, pink, and silver. The row of small holes along the edge are called respiratory pores. The abalone uses these to breathe, expel metabolic waste, and release eggs or sperm during reproduction.Abalone shells are exceptionally strong, composed of a tightly packed calcium carbonate matrix (nacre) layered with proteins which makes them useful as a bowl. Their flattened, oval, and slightly spiraled form is perfect for holding things. These 2 are medium to large size. I've had them in my personal collection for 12 years. They have only been used as display.
