19th Century "Dahlia Gracilis" Vintage Botanical Study Print Walter Hood Fitch

Drawn by Walter Hood Fitch, chromolithographed by Stroobant, Ghent, from "The Florist and Pomologist" by Robert Hogg, London, published from 1878 to 1884. 251 hand-colored and chromolithographic plates of fruit and flowers. Walter Hood Fitch (1817-1892) was a botanical illustrator born in Glasgow, Scotland who executed approximately 10,000 drawings for various publications. His work in color lithograph, including 2700 illustrations for "Curtis's Botanical Magazine", produced up to 200 plates per year. In 1841 Fitch became the sole artist for all official and unofficial publications issued by Kew, the Royal Botanic Gardens.
