Gold wash interior The box is a reproduction from the Dutch museum collection In the 17th & 18th centuries it was the custom of the man to present a woman of his choice a marriage sovereign usually a small silver box. If she accepted it, then the woman intended to marry the man. The box is 2 3/4" tall & 2 inches wide MMA and Sterling Marking Weight is approximately 90 grams Original documentation included from the museum gift store.
