If you look closely you will notice some crazing in the glaze. This happens generally as the wares cool after firing. It is upon the cooling of the kiln and the contraction of the wares that cracks form. Ultimately, crazing can and does happen over time, even to professionally produced pieces. Crazing doesn't impair the durability or utility of your ceramic pieces. It is very common in pottery and fine china, especially in vintage and antique pieces. Some find these imperfections and signs of aging to be charming—a reflection of the object’s history that lends the piece extra charm and authenticity. They are not cracks in the actual piece of pottery but rather surface-level cracks. Much like humans with wrinkles developing as we age, pottery develops these crazing “wrinkles” as it ages.Personally, I think the crazing is beautiful!
