1980's Vintage Japanese Traditional Hime Daruma Doll This Beautiful Vintage Japanese Traditional Hime Daruma Doll In Excellent Condition. It is Made In Japan. This is a great traditional vintage Hime-Daruma female doll , that is regarded as a good-luck charm. This spherical doll is hollow and covered with lovely gold, silver, and red brocade fabric. Also these dolls are a traditional craft of Matsuyama. Children who play with Hime Daruma dolls are said to grow up healthy, and invalids who display them are said to recover quickly. They also make popular wedding and childbirth gifts Hime means "princess" and is a traditional good luck doll, especially for mother-to-be. It measures approximately 6" Tall. Hand painted with glass eyes that make them almost realistic. Oyster shell faces with inset eyes and made of papier-mâché covered with St Hubert Satin. The doll stands up straight and is shaped like an egg.
