This 7.75" porcelain collector plate was made in West Germany by Bareuther Waldsassen to commemorate Muttertag (Mother’s Day) in 1972. The blue and white transferware design features an image based on original artwork by German artist Ludwig Richter (1803–1884). A mother kneels with open arms, encouraging her baby to walk as an older child supports them—surrounded by charming toys and homey details. Backstamp reads: “Mother's Day 1972 – From the original by Ludwig Richter, 1803–1884, Dresden Germany – Limited Edition.” A wonderful gift for Mother’s Day or addition to a vintage European porcelain collection.
