Made in the 1970s by the Takahasi Pottery in Japan, this retro Gold Crane - Red Sun motif has become very famous and very collectible.
These ivory white porcelain mugs are footed tall mugs ; perfect for a big cup or tea, coffee, or hot chocolate. The flying cranes are hand painted in 22kt gold. These mugs have been stored away for decades and have never been used.
They are 4 3/4" or 12 cm tall. The pair is in pristine clean like new condition. The gold cranes and the red sun are in perfect condition with no wear or scratches. The mugs are in near perfect condition with no cracks, repairs, or signs of wear. On the bottom rim, on the foot of one mug, there are a couple of very tiny rim flakes. The mugs are not signed. I have 50 years experience with MIJ and know that vast majority of potteries very well. (You will find this rare design and maker in MIJ books.)
