Handcrafted in San Francisco by the legendary East West Musical Instruments Co., this rare Rodeo model exemplifies the artistry and counterculture spirit of the early 1970s. Each jacket was individually cut, hand-stitched, and appliquéd — no two were exactly alike.
Details:
- Authentic embossed East West Musical Instruments Co. San Francisco label
- Model: Rodeo (handwritten on original tag, a known in-house marking)
- Size: Small (handwritten on original tag)
- Soft, vegetable-tanned cowhide with contrasting deerskin appliqué and piping
- Unlined interior with exposed seam tape, true to East West construction
- Beautiful floral appliqué on collar and cuffs
- Lace-up accent at the cuffs
- Fitted cut with flared waist and shaped back panels
Condition:
Very good vintage condition for age. Leather is supple, strong, and beautifully aged. Note that there is a partial separation in stitching at one cuff (easily repairable if desired), a surface scuff near back hem (does not go through leather), and some small spots/minor discoloration from normal use. See photos for detail.
Measurements (approximate):
Lying flat, it measures approximately 15.25” pit to pit, 14.5” shoulder point to point, 13.25” at the waist, 14.25” at the hips, 19.25” shoulder to hem, and 22” shoulder seam to cuff.
