Vintage 1970s COACH New York City leather portfolio, model No. 000-6620.
This piece comes from Coach’s early NYC workshop era, long before overseas production. The leather is thick, glove-tanned full-grain cowhide, hand-cut and built to develop the rich patina only the early bags get.
It features the early pre-1980s Coach “Leatherware” creed, which includes the original paragraph-style stamp and the NYC manufacturing line. During this period, Coach used a numbering format like 000-xxxx — these were not modern style numbers, but internal batch/model identifiers used when production was still small-batch and done in New York.
Details:
• Made in New York City, U.S.A.
• Glove-tanned full-grain cowhide in British Tan
• Single large main pocket
• Brass zipper with original leather pull
• Raw suede interior
• Early Coach Leatherware creed
• Hand-cut, unstructured slab-leather construction
