1950s RARE Colorful Pheasant Feather Fascinator Hat

Is a hat a frivolous accessory or a necessity? When looking into its history it quickly becomes apparent that it has been both. Headwear for women began in earnest during the Middle Ages when the church decreed that their hair must be covered. Fascinator hats are lightweight, decorative headpieces typically worn on the side or the back of the head. Unlike traditional hats, fascinators often feature intricate designs that include feathers, flowers, and ribbons, making them more of an artistic statement than a practical accessory. This vintage hat is so fabulous! Framing the face with lossy brown, green, & white feathers give this just the right glam factor for any event. The back features a brown gross-grain ribbon bow. This shape is so true to the era. DIMENSIONS (underside band): 6" wide by 6 1/2" across Overall wonderful vintage condition! No spots, tears or missing feathers. The brown netting has a few holes; it could be easily removed if desired. I just love this vintage find!
