1950s MAYA de MEXICO Mayan Hieroglyph Hand Painted Aqua/Gold Circle Skirt sz. XS

*PRICE FIRM* SPECTACULAR & rare hand painted skirt, vintage from the 50s by Maya de Mexico. This piece is unbelievable, vibrant aqua blue with gold & bronze painted panels of Mayan deities & hieroglyphs! I took close ups, but there are 11 completely different panels before they repeat! There's a figure who is apparently Kukulkan, the god of wind, storms, life, knowledge, and agriculture, and a creator god associated with the cycles of life &death. I've found a monkey-like figure, a serpent, & all manner of figures I can't even identify. This skirt is a true work of art, especially considering "Maya de Mexico" items were handmade by indigenous local women. -Handmade & hand painted -Vivid aqua color w/gold & bronze detailing -Intricate Mayan deity & hieroglyph pattern -No fabric tag, feels like cotton which they usually were -Full circle skirt -Hook & loop closures at waist -Hits mid to lower calf -Swing skirt silhouette -EUC, no flaws to note, one original hook was replaced -No size, fits like XS, see below -Last 10 pics in natural light Measurements on the half: Waist: 11.25 in.
