First year of the Series, the 1948 Franklin Half Dollar was minted in Denver and depicts a head and shoulder portrait of Franklin on the obverse with Liberty above and IN GOD WE TRUST below. The reverse depicts the Liberty Bell with a small eagle to the left of the otto E PLURIBUS UNUM, fulfilling the requirement of the Coinage Act of 1792 that an eagle appear on the reverse of all silver coins.
Purchased in 1995 for $81 as "MS 64". Please view pictures for Full Bell Lines. Stored carefully, part of my late husband and mother-in-law's coin collection started in the 1950s. 10 Lots available.
