1939 World’s Fair Golden Gate Int’l Exposition Plate Homer Laughlin Art Deco

1939 Collector’s official souvenir plate from the San Francisco Golden Gate International Exposition aka the Worlds Fair, made in USA by Homer Laughlin. Designed by artist Charles Murphy. Fantastic Art Deco design featuring the Tower of the Sun and Golden Gate Bridge in the center and structures from the fair in stunning colors and detail around the edges of the plate. Rimmed in gold. Inset floral pattern of California’s state flower, the golden poppy. What is rare about this plate is that there are many signatures on the back of the plate that appear permanent - see photos. These signatures are not typically included on this collectible plate, which adds an air of mystery to it. There is one small chip on the back of the plate - see photo- that isn’t visible from the front and in no way detracts from this spectacular plate. There are a few marks on the back of the plate that I think are original, possibly from the production process (see photos). A true Art Deco beauty.
