Vintage Japanese Moriyama Mori-Machi Ceramic Serving Tray with Original Papier-Mâché Box | Sushi / Appetizer Dish | 1930s–1950s
Description:
This beautiful vintage Japanese ceramic serving tray was crafted by Moriyama Mori-Machi and still comes in its original papier-mâché storage box. A rare find, it features classic hand-painted Japanese design work and is marked “Made in Japan” on the reverse.
Pieces like this were produced from the 1930s through the 1950s, and the box construction using newspaper and papier-mâché hints at early to mid-20th century origins. Some collectors even attribute examples like this to the pre-WWII era.
- Perfect as a sushi tray, appetizer dish, or collectible display piece.
- A thoughtful gift for collectors of Japanese pottery, Asian antiques, or Art Deco-era ceramics.
- Harder to find in this condition with the original box intact.
Condition:
Tray: Very good vintage condition with minor expected wear.
Box: Some age-related wear to the papier-mâché, but still intact and functional.
