This is a vintage Coro Charlie McCarthy figural fur clip, a collectible piece of costume jewelry from the late 1930s. This piece depicts the famous ventriloquist dummy Charlie McCarthy, a character created by Edgar Bergen, known for his top hat, tuxedo, and monocle. Many of these pins were mechanical, with a small lever on the bottom that could be used to open and close the mouth. The jewelry was manufactured by the Coro company, a major producer of costume jewelry in the 20th century. The pieces were made under an exclusive license from Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy, Inc. and were featured in advertisements in 1937. He has obvious paint loss, still a collectable piece. Missing the monocle.
