Collector’s Note
L’Aiglon was Edmond Rostand’s most celebrated play after Cyrano de Bergerac. First performed in Paris in 1900 with Sarah Bernhardt in the title role, the play dramatizes the life of Napoleon’s son and has remained a classic of Napoleonic and French theatre history. Early American editions such as this are desirable among collectors of theatre history and Napoleonic literature.
