This is an amazing little piece of history!!
These wax jacks were used in the 1700s to melt sealing wax for sealing letters and documents. They also had some value in providing light, like a candle.
5" tall, 4" diameter base. It is made of brass, and it is stamped Made in Spain on the bottom. It is Valmazan, a Spanish brand of home decor and barware.
I've included a screenshot of information that I've found elsewhere online.
This one has a snuffer connected by a chain, that is used to put out the flame.
It is in great condition, you can even easily unscrew a nut on the side and remove it like one would do to refill it. (See last 3 pics before the historical info pics)
I have two listed, slightly different from each other.
