Here is a very good deal for somebody looking for a quality chain. This chain is one of the pieces from new/old stock from a family jewelers that closed. Most of the items heralded between 1940 to 1990, so it was a very unique estate sale. This is one of the items that has stood the test of time, in that the style is still one sought after today. Not only is it a great length at 24 inches, it is also 18K gold. The design is a curb link, and these links are solid, not hollow. Other than those fine traits, the finest part is the clasp. It features a "sister-clasp" which I consider the safest clasp you can get on a chain. It was actually invented at the turn of the century, but no one put a patent on it until 1963, and the patent was granted in August of 1971. This is most likely the reason you do not see many. Once somebody applied and got the patent, a company now needs his permission to use it. That permission can be quite costly. So...the bearer of this chain is extremely lucky. Additionally, the width of the links are 2.8mm wide and the weight of the chain and clasp is 16.9 grams. The clasp is stamped 18K, and I also tested the actual chain by an acid test as well as Kee X-ray, ensuring both clasp and chain are 18K. Chains similar to this today, command a price of nearly $3000, and that is for 14K gold. This is a great one for the guy that has everything. You never have to take it off.
