14k Gold Pocket Watch by Elgin from 1909

Just absolutely stunning is all I can say about the gold work on this 14k gold watch. Thank goodness it has survived many opportunities where the case would have been melted for its gold value as the wrist watches came into vogue. Even the engraving on the movement has been done with care by someone who was exceptionally good at their work. This little gem has graduated from a vintage piece to a true antique as it has passed the 100yr mark a number of years ago. Just think this American company started making watches in 1864, their gold watches were for the people with deep pockets. But 14k gold is a soft metal and it’s amazing in its 116 years that it hasn’t gotten a dent in it. It is a well loved piece
