This listing is for the slightly smaller (the vase on the right) of these two unusual, large, ground-blue vases with salamander appliqués, decorative handles shaped like monkeys, and beautiful, hand-painted fronds and peonies.
Each vase is for sale individually due Poshmark shipping weight limits. They cannot be bundled.
Each is about 10 LBS. Like many VTG Chinese ceramic pairs, one is slightly smaller. See measurements in the photos.
The vases are in excellent vintage condition. They have been used for flowers previously (there is some residue in the bottom). Around the inside of the rims, there are some little spots that appear to be from the manufacturing process. Please see the photos. There are no chips, cracks, “flea bites” or any such damage.
Judging by the style and back stamp, these are likely H.F.P. Macau, vintage c. 1960. They both have a Qianlong Dynasty mark identical to many HFP pieces.
(Courtesy caveat emptor: The dynastic mark on *all* Macau pottery is just honorific; it’s typical. No one should think it’s 200 years old🙂. Macau porcelain sold as “antique” or “from the Qianlong period” is inaccurately represented.)

@artifactshunter, hi, I separated the vases into two listings. I think it may work better with how Posh is set up.

@abbeyroad1968 Thanks! They’re nifty, right? What do you think—1950s/1960s Macau? It’s my best guess but I wish I knew the stamp!

@jalapan, Just fabulous! And I have to say that whomever purchases one should also purchase the other in a 2nd transaction. I'm a "set" girl so I would have to own the two. Oh the markings, bane of my existence! I even studied the different markings in "appraisal courses" & it is so very difficult & makes my brain swirl!

@abbeyroad1968 I had them listed as a set and I agree with you. I wish it were easier Posh to sell bigger, heavier items on Posh. :)

@jalapan, Agreed! On another note, did you see that we will now have to disclose our sales to the IRS? I'm just finding this out!

@abbeyroad1968 Yeahhhhh..... So, I *did* become aware of that a couple months ago—also on the Mer***i platform—and very foolishly I didn’t figure that into my costs accordingly. And I still haven’t, which is my own, procrastinating fault. I know the 1099 is only for sellers above a certain sales threshold, but I’m above it and doubtless you are, too.

@abbeyroad1968 Maybe the appropriate response is to create a small LLC or set up as a DBA and then also expense costs as allowed by law on 1099 income. That would probably be worth it for me because I’m always renting vans and driving all over to pick stuff up etc. 😂🤷🏻♀️
