A British XL is a size 44R whereas an American (US) XL is a 46R. A British 2XL corresponds to a US XL. This applies only to waistcoats, jackets and sweaters be cause a men's 38 waist is the same in both parts of the world... although that does not always extend to shoes and boots. This ended up being slightly tight for a US XL. Kind of funny because Cremieux is headquartered in New York but it has stores in France and the UK.
