Seller Verification Policy
Poshmark collects certain information to help actively protect our buyers and sellers and comply with government regulations, such as our Know Your Customer (KYC) program. We will only use this information for compliance purposes, to prevent fraud, improve the safety and security of your Poshmark experience, and in accordance with our Privacy Policy. To ensure your account remains accurate and compliant, we will periodically ask you to review and provide updates to this information. This includes the following information from all sellers:
- Full Name
- Date of Birth
- Residential Address
- Phone Number
- Social Security Number (SSN)
Upon request, additional information may be required to verify your account. This may include identity document verification or proof of address.
Identity information:
This information provided must be your legal information and should be entered as it appears on a government-issued ID (e.g. a driver's license, passport, etc) or public record.
Date of birth should be your real date of birth and match what appears on your birth certificate and/or government issued ID.
Your residential address is the physical location of your permanent residency, such as the address on your driver’s license, where you have utility services in your name, or are registered to vote. Please note, we do not allow shipping addresses including P.O. Box or shipping centers.
To maintain a safe marketplace, Identity document and selfie verification may be required to assist us in verifying your information.
Business Details:
Any seller operating under a business must provide the following business details:
- Legal Business Name
- Business Address
- Business Type
- Legal Business Documentation
Upon request, additional information will be required to verify your business details. Acceptable documentation includes: Operating Agreement, Stock Ledger, or IRS Schedule K-1 that explicitly lists each owner's name and their specific equity percentage.
Minors:
Sellers under the age of 18 are required to provide parent or legal guardian information. As outlined in our Terms of Service, for minor accounts, the parent or guardian is designated as the legal account owner and, as such, must provide full KYC details.
Required parent/guardian information includes:
- Parent/Guardian Full Legal Name
- Parent/Guardian Date of Birth
- Parent/Guardian Residential Address
- Parent/Guardian Social Security Number
Upon request, additional information may be required by the parent/guardian to verify their information on the account. This may include identity document verification or proof of address.
Phone verification:
We may ask sellers to verify their phone numbers to ensure that they’re a real person, and to help in the recovery of a lost account.
Redemption Verification:
As part of our verification process, upon request, you may be asked to provide additional information on your redemption method in order to verify account ownership. This may include an upload of current documentation showing you are the account owner or a legal authorized user. If you are redeeming using a business account please be prepared to provide information showing you as the owner/signer of that account.
Edits to your KYC Information:
Edits to your KYC information, such as a legal name or address change, can be made through “Seller Tools” then selecting “Seller KYC Info”. Please note that any edits to your legal information may require further review, and additional information may be required. To maintain the integrity of our marketplace, edits to transfer account ownership are not allowed without formal documentation of sale or change in ownership. Edits to your account owner information are limited. Please double check your edit is correct before you submit your updated information. Once an edit has been approved you will not be able to edit for 90 days. Please allow 24 hours for updates to be processed.
