vintage sterling medallion with turquoise

vintage sterling silver medallion with turquoise stone. i think this may have been a part of a bolo at one point, but someone attempted turning it into a pendant. as a result, one of the silver-work scrolls seems to have popped off, most likely when the hole was added at the top. i do not have the missing part. this medallion is possibly native american, but has no marks. the piece is the reason that finds like this make me a bit sad. the medallion was probably perfect as it was, with beautiful workmanship, but when someone tried to convert the piece to something else, they were less than careful and not at all skilled, thus decreasing the medallion’s beauty and value. so, i saved it. but now it is a project for me, one project of too many that i have never gotten around to fixing. so, maybe you can save it too and restore it to some of its former glory.
