littala Scandinavian Cobalt Blue Art Glass Vase Finland Nordic Sommerso 1970's

Founded in 1881, Iittala started as a glass manufacturer. Today, they design some of the finest Scandinavian art glass. Perhaps the most famous object of Finnish design ‐- the Aalto vase ‐- was designed for Iittala in 1936 by Alvar Aalto. This stunning cobalt blue art glass vase was hand blown in the 1970's. It features an hour glass type shape towards the top that has an unusually large flare to it like and a clear base, similar to some Murano Sommero pieces. It's a very beautiful shade of cobalt blue free of any damage with no chips, cracks or flea bites. Very minor scratches on the base. This vase will look wonderful in anywhere in your home, especially if you love Scandiinavian design or are an art glass collector. This 11 inch tall modern vase has an asymmetric narrowed lip, narrow neck and slightly curved body. It is hand blown from cobalt blue glass with a Sommerso clear glass base. Measures 11" tall and approx. 3" at the center.
