Beautiful and very romantic traditional table lamp that conjures the spirit of elegant Victorian interiors and specifically antebellum decors, hence the name these lamps are commonly called, “gone with the wind”.
Both body and globe shade are made of glass painted in green verging on dark sage green, with large white areas adorned with generous hand-painted rose bouquets.
The metal foot features intricate chiseled moldings.
Imitating old kerosene lamps of the 19th century, it is a reproduction dating from the 1940s, based on the look of the electrical cord. I’ve been told it traveled all the way from Ireland to New England…
Very good vintage condition, slight wear to the metal foot (it is cast iron or cast aluminum with a dark bronze finish; this finish has worn away in some areas, see pictures; to me, that wear doesn’t have a noticeable impact on the item).
Dimensions: height 24”, larger diameter of the shade approx. 12”.
