The Church of St. George was built in the 19th century in place of an older one that dated from the 18th century. The most notable characteristic is of this church is its two high steeples and Byzantine/Greek styled Iconostases. The library of the monastery is divided into two main sections: modern books and reference material dating from the 19th and 20th centuries of religion, science Coptic, Greek, Arabic, English and Amharic and hand-written manuscripts in Coptic and Arabic dating back to 13th century.
