The full name of this pair is New Balance Fresh Foam X Hierro v7 GTX (Gore-Tex waterproof membrane). They're meant for light hiking and/or trail running. I wore them 3 or 4 times before realizing they're simply too big for me. As shown in the photo, the tread is in great shape. There are a few dirt splotches on the fabric that wouldn't come off with water.
