This rare, authentic vintage faux fue coat was made in late 1950s to the early 1960s by Sidney Blumenthal, "the fur man"! The faux fur is super soft, thick and shiny, and is called "luxury pile".
It has bracelet length sleeves (which hit short for me - before my wrists I'm 5'9") three large buttons down the front, two side slit pockets and a peter pan collar.
Disclaimer: snap button below collar is missing the top part of snap

*Sidney Blumenthal & Co. was known for producing faux fur woven fabric coats.
The specific material used for these coats was often referred to as "luxury pile" or "true woven pile fabric". One description of a vintage coat with "Sovereign The Shelton Looms" branding (associated with Sidney Blumenthal & Co.) notes the use of Cotton/Faux Fur/Orlon/Dynel as the material composition.
In the context of other fabrics produced by Sidney Blumenthal & Co.'s Shelton Looms, the National Museum of American History mentions a "Kitmole" imitation fur fabric with mohair pile on a cotton ground, and a transparent velvet, "La Loie Silvel," made with Rayon pile and a silk ground. These details suggest that Sidney Blumenthal & Co. used a variety of materials in their woven pile fabrics, including both natural and synthetic fibers, to create different textures and appearances for their coats and other products.
