Whiting & Davis Antique 1930’s Chain Metal Enamel Painted Wrist Bag

In 1892 Mr. Whiting designs the first mesh bag, with all rings formed and joined by hand. By 1912 a machine is invented to automate the mesh making process. Progressive Parisian couturière Elsa Schiaparelli produced designs for Whiting & Davis between 1936 and 1938, introducing several new, more modern shapes to the line. This gorgeous enamel mesh purse features a pressed art deco sunburst clasp painted in alternating colors that’s in phenomenal vintage condition.
