We love stoneware. When we saw this piece we just had to have it because it has such a vintage look. The piece is signed on the bottom by the potter, author, historian, and professor Phil Schaltenbrand. He began Westerwald Pottery in 1975 in Scenery Hill, PA. This lidded crock or storage jar is 7" tall to the top of the lid and 4 1/2" wide at the widest point. No chips or cracks. His pieces are made like the early Pennsylvania stoneware was, with traditional colonial decoration and inscribed with town names. This one is for St. Bonifacius, Minnesota a settlement in Hennepin County where John and Joseph Maerz took land claims in the fall of 1852 for what now is the town of St. Bonifacius.
No chips cracks or repairs.
