Fill two cups with tap, well, or bottled water enough to cover the rods halfway, submerge the rods in water and let it run for 3-5 minutes. Almost instantly you will start to see the water changed depending on the purity. Then use the TDS meter to see how it ranks, ideally it will be under 100PPM.
