Waechtersbach West Germany 1970’S Vintage Biscuit/Nut Container. Discontinued Piece. Very Rare and highly collectible. From the most famous Holiday pattern that Waechtersbach ever produced. Special red glaze with a hand painted green tree and white candles, stars and ornaments. As simple and elegant today as when it was produced. The red color and shine of the glaze is beautiful. Waechtersbach was a German ceramics company that was started by Prince Adolf of Ysenburg in 1832 in Brachttal, Germany, near Waechtersbach. It was part of the most important German manufacturers of stoneware and ceramics from the 19th to the mid twentieth century. They were very famous for their very difficult to produce red glaze. All glazes were hand applied. It is very common to see some streaking in the red due to the hand application process and nature of this special red. This piece is in excellent condition. No chips, cracks or crazing. Well cared for. Dishwasher safe but I always hand wash to alleviate any chance of chipping. This jar can hold small cookies, condiments or nuts. 4 3/4 inches tall and 4 inch diameter. What a fun gift this would make filled with delectable goodies! Very rare, almost impossible to find, beautiful vintage piece. Stamped Waechtersbach, West Germany on bottom. Hand glazed ceramic.
