WINSOME 1950s' BLACK STRAW & LACE HAT WITH BLACK OSTRICH FEATHERS

This is a very elegant black straw and lace hat from the fabulous fifties! The cap is asymmetrical and covered in bands of woven straw on top, edged in a shiny fabric, , and black lace covering the inside of the hat. There are beautiful black curly ostrich feathers adorning one side. There is an elastic band attached to the inside of the hat to keep it in place. This is a stunning look! Throughout the 1950s, ladies wore hats daily as a part of their attire as was a pair of gloves. To preserve its market, the millinery industry set about creating variety and extravagance. They were now touted as the essential accessory to complete the ensemble.
