Beautiful hand knit traditional Norwegian design cardigan sweater in creamy natural white and 2 shades of grey wool. 9 Pewter buttons - freshly dry-cleaned. In beautiful condition. Please note: Norwegian wool is the best quality yarn in the world. Now and then you may find a bit of grass knitted into the sweater. This is not a flaw - it is intrinsic to the charm & authenticity of the sweater. It might look like small spot but, it is not a flaw or dirt. It is a bit of grass that got stuck in the sheep's wool when he was outside grazing. It shows the origin of the sweater. I noted 2 stitches with grass in the wool near the cuffs of this sweater. The grass can be carefully removed with a tweezer but I do not advise doing that as leaving it in is a plus to collectors of these fabulous sweaters. The design is a traditional Norwegian folk pattern. The sweater is beautifully knit and finished. This particular sweater does not have any tags in it but I know it is Wm. Schmidt from the 1940s as I have catalogues showing the designs available from the company. I acquired this sweater in Norway. Made by expert Norwegian knitters in the late 1940's and distributed by Willam Schmidt in Oslo. Size is a ladies Small with a 34" bust. The length is 23". The sleeves are 18.5" from underarm to cuff without rolling the cuff. Rolling the cuff the sleeves is 17" underarm to cuff. It is in beautiful condition. No flaws, fresh & clean! Ready to wear.
