Vtg Hand Carved From One Piece Of WOOD Folding Tripod STAND Snake Head

This wooden tripod stand is 8" long. It is a vintage item imported from India sometime in the 1970s. 
 It is remarkable because the whole thing is carved from one piece of wood! 
 I believe it is sheeshamwood but I am not sure about that. 
 The three points on top are carved like snake heads. It measures about 6" from snake tip to snake tip along the top.
