Vontury RARE Signed Mid 20th Century Porcelain Abstract Floral Celadon Vase Original Label Mid-century studio pottery porcelain vase by master ceramicist Francis Joseph von Tury. Hand decorated with floral vines in brown, charcoal gray, and dark blue on a pale celadon green ground with fluted rim with drip glaze. Hand inscribed with the artist's signature. Height 10" Across mouth 5" Across base 3.5" Condition: Excellent near mint with no cracks, chips, crazing, or issues of note. Still has original label. Vintage items may have slight scratches or imperfections. Anything major that compromises the value or integrity of the piece will always be listed. About: Francis Joseph von Tury (1901 - 1992) was a fourth generation Hungarian potter. After emigrating to the US in 1929 he invented a unique "single firing" process for porcelain which is now the standard. Throughout the balance of his lengthy career "Joe" maintained an atelier studio along with creating bodies of work for partners such as Georg Jensen.
