About: Francis Joseph von Tury (1901 - 1992) was a fourth generation Hungarian potter. After emigrating to the US in 1929 he invented a unique "single firing" process for porcelain which is now the standard. Throughout the balance of his lengthy career "Joe" maintained an atelier studio along with creating bodies of work for partners such as Georg Jensen. His work is included in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (MOMA) and the Smithsonian Institute.
