This is a 1920s vintage blanket that is rare, very collectible and unique in that it is double length. There are a few theories why the double blankets exist. The first theory is that double blankets saved time during looming. Another theory is that import blankets from England were taxed individually so a double blanket would be taxed only once instead of twice (and would later be cut into two blankets). Double length blankets were the precursor to our present day sleeping bag. This blanket is a classic blue, off-white and gray plaid. Several of the photos with a tape measure illustrate the area where the pattern is a mirror image (12" each side) and the other half of the blanket continues. It is shown on a full bed for illustration and can be used on either a twin or full bed. It is 62" wide and 152" long ( 12" 8" long). It is made out of wool and surprisingly has NO tears, hole or stains! The two ends have a simple hem that is intact. It has been stored in a cedar chest since the 1930s. It would be a great addition for the winter months! It comes from a smoke free and pet free home.

@ambonellica No label but the blanket is at least 100 years old. You can read about the history if you google "double length blankets". Some are mislabeled on other website as "extra long". Over 12.5 feet long is more than extra long! ;)
