Vintage brass/copper spice box

These lockboxes were made with great pride and quality to securely house these monetary commodities! Spices were used as currency in many cases and utilized through various religious ceremonies in the Islamic traditions. Purchased in Abu Dhabi in 1980 by my mom. Hammered copper and brass.
