Vintage Wooden Statuette • Little Monk Praying

Vintage Wooden Statuette Franciscan Monk In Contemplation Hand Carved •This beautiful little statuette was purchased at the St. Xavier Mission, just south of Tucson, between 1980-1982. It was made and purchased from a local artisan and resident (who said it was vintage back then) •The statuette monk at prayer is believed to be Father Eusebio Francisco Kino, S.J., who founded The San Xavier Mission in 1692 (many things in Tucson are named for him. I went to a school named for him growing up) •The Mission is on the land of the Tohono O'odham Nation and The Yaqui, where local residents and artisans sell their crafts and wares ~ and make a fry bread you would crime for!! •There is some distressing and patina due to its age (its been in storage for many years) Measurements (approx): base: 4.25"×3.5" (at its widest) height: 7.5"
