The hoops that the bird is attached to give it the feeling of floating in mid flight. The bird looks like a swallow or a swift to me, but I'm not an ornithologist. Would be a great gift for an ornithologist, though! Or a bird watcher. An Audubon Society member. Or anyone wanting to give their dreams wings. Fly, little bird, fly! One of a kind, rare vintage piece. I don't know what types of wood are used, but it looks like a mix of hardwoods, possibly mahogany, cherry, and hickory for the bird? Excellent condition.
