This listing is for a vintage U.S. Air Force officer shoulder board featuring the gold oak leaf insignia of a Major (O-4). This shoulder board was manufactured by the iconic N.S. Meyer Inc. of New York, a major supplier of U.S. military insignia during the 20th century. The board is constructed with a dark blue (nearly black) wool backing, silver bullion trim, and a finely embroidered gold oak leaf at the center. At the pointed end is a metal USAF crest button, and the back features the original Meyer maker’s mark in the classic shield logo (used primarily before the 1960s).
