Vintage Modern Tall "Midas" Ceramic Vase by Georges Briard for Hyalyn Porcelain Company 1960's raised gold decoration on a white porcelain vase. Width: 4.25 inches Depth: 3.25 inches Height: 15.0 inches 4.25"W × 3.25"D × 15"H In the early 1960's, Georges Briard was commissioned to design modern shapes for a bisque porcelain line produced in white and earthtone colors. A woman named Esta Huttner owned the Peerless Art Company in Brooklyn and had perfected a method of applying the raised gold decoration for Briard glassware. With her expertise, hyalyn was able to incorporate the raised gold onto their porcelain. The hyalyn designs, called "Midas" epitomized Briard's sophisticated yet whimsical abstractions. These pieces are probably the most popular hyalyn collector pieces today. Bottom is marked hyalyn USA.
