Vintage Stoneware German Stein with Brass Lid

Very nice, vintage stoneware German stein with brass lid. Half liter. Says, "Alt Heidelberg du Feine du Stadt an Ehren Reich." These are the first two lines of a popular poem, "Alt Heidleberg, du feine," written in 1852 by Joseph Victor von Scheffel. This verse was also incorporated into the "Badnerlied" (Song of the People of Baden), which was the unofficial hymn of the former state of Baden. "Old Heidelberg, you are so fine, your city rich in honor." Bottom is marked, but there is only a faint impression so it's hard to make out. 5.5" tall with lid handle. Heavy. Very nice shape, no cracks or chips. Some crazing consistent with age. 100% Authentic.
