This beautiful pin was created in the 1970s by an artisan jeweler in Arizona. He also cut and polished the cabochon of Sleeping Beauty turquoise. The Sleeping Beauty mine was one of the largest in North America. Now, one of the most prolific mines in the US has been closed and the turquoise has become harder to find. Using the magnet method, the metal of the pin tests as sterling silver. The back of the pin is hallmarked with the maker's initial.

thegilliflowers Thank you for such an important question. I have just uploaded a photo of the back of the pin. You will see the letter "D" partially covered by the pin device. That is the maker's mark.
