Vintage Sears Vincent Price National Treasures (SVPNT) Spongeware Butter Crock and Pitcher.
This beautiful set was displayed in a china cabinet all of its life.
Crock measures 5-1/2” tall, almost 6” across the top. No chips to the crock. The bottom of the crock is unglazed grey color.
The pitcher measures about 8-3/4” tall. It is completely glazed and the SVPNT stamp is a little hard to read because it is under the glaze.
The SVPNT line of collectibles were listed in the 1967-68 Sears catalog. This piece was made by the Morton Pottery Co. It is a rare, attractive piece of kitchenware pottery.
History:
In 1967 Sears, Roebuck and Company entered an agreement with Morton Pottery Co. to produce a line of reproduction pottery designs selected by Vincent Price, who was an art consultant for Sears at the time. In addition to pottery, Mr. Price chose furniture and home accessories to be reproduced from early American designs. The promotional campaign was launched as "The Sears Roebuck Vincent Prince National Treasures Collection," with each item featuring the "SVPNT" logo. The collection first appeared in the 1967 spring and summer catalog, and was carried again in 1968, but was not continued beyond 1968.
