Vintage Singer Buttonholer *Famous for its Jetson Pink Case* This “buttonholer” is designed for vintage Singer with slant shank machines. There is another version of a very similar set up yet in a green case, and that buttonholer is for vertical/low shank machines -version is model 489500.  Both of these buttonholers the pink and green case version both do work for straight and zig-zag machines, in that the attachment does not require zig-zag function to work, it creates buttonhole stitches by moving the shank of the machine. I hope that makes sense, it should to someone regularly working a machine, might not make sense to someone just beginning to use a machine.
