This preowned teapot is in wonderful conditioner considering its age and use. It came to us preserved in a coating of grease! It was soaked in mild detergent and cleaned up rather well. The daisy design is typical on the handle and lid. Some have a stamp of "USA" on the bottom, but this was most likely worn off. There is cracking in the glaze and a few imperfections, but no noticeable cracks or chips. Looking at the top of the teapot - see photos - there are a couple of lines that feel rough to the touch so they might be a crack in the glaze or a hairline crack in the rim. Shawnee Pottery was a company that started in 1937 by taking over the factory and workers of American Encaustic Tiling Company, which produced architectural tiles since 1891. Shawnee Pottery was managed by A.E. Hull, Jr, the son of the Hull Pottery Company, another Zanesville, Ohio company. A special piece of history to have with your Hull Pottery or teapot collection. And of course, it will serve a great cup of tea. It looks to hold about 1-2 cups or so. Height: 6.75" Width: 8.5" Base: 3.75" Listed on another website as well.
