Vintage Satsuma Porcelain Lidded Baluster Vase

This exquisite porcelain vase features a stunning floral design in cream, orange, and metallic gold tones. Satsuma ware originated in Satsuma Province (now Kagoshima Prefecture) in southern Kyūshū, Japan. The most recognizable type features a soft, ivory-colored, crackled glaze with elaborate polychrome and gold decorations, as seen in the image. This piece is likely from the 1960’s or ‘70’s. There is one small chip on the rim of the vase, difficult to see and invisible when the lid is on, see photo.
