Vintage Red Amber Glass Snuff Bottles (5 for $250 or 1 for $50) - Circa 1800's

Snuff bottles have fascinated Western and Asian collectors since they were first produced in China in the early part of the 18th century. Conceived as precious containers for ground tobacco imported into China, snuff bottles were initially made for the emperor and the court, and eventually produced in much greater quantities for a public who enjoyed their functionality as well as their display as symbols of status. These red amber colored glass snuff bottles are from the very late 1890's. The mold seam comes all the way up through the lip. They each measure approximately 4 inches tall and 2 3/8 inches on the square base. The sides are straight. They are in very good condition with normal signs of use but no damages, no chips or cracks!
