debzz101 @triciabxb Hi, did you know that selling endangered animal fur is illegal? 5 yrs in prison.

allegrageller @debzz101 I'm pretty sure this is ocelot.

debzz101 @allegrageller Ocelots are on the endangered list. If you go to the CITIES website, you can get the info there.

allegrageller @debzz101 That is an asinine law. If everyone bought vintage fur, the poaching of endangered animals would gri d to a halt. Repurposing vintage furs, especially exotics, is an excellent way to help end the illegal fur trade. Respinsible people buy vintage.

allegrageller @debzz101 Your point being??? Lol

debzz101
debzz101 @allegrageller umm, my point is it is illegal to sell. You can sell it in your own state, but it can't be sold across your state line.

allegrageller @debzz101 I grew up in Canada in a family of hunters, taxidermists, furriers, and native American trappers. As in leg hold traps. Which led me to realize that the most responsible thing we as consumers can do, is refuse to contribute to the modern fur industry (overall) by purchasing vintage. In no area is this more important than exotics. Buying vintage exotics (items that were legally sourced at the time) is the most responsible and ethical way fur lovers can protect endangered species now.

allegrageller @debzz101 And my point is its a stupid law. I hope this purse goes to a collector who will appreciate it, and rest easy knowing no new ocelots were killed for their pleasure.

debzz101 @allegrageller I understand what you are saying. But I also believe that anyone selling exotic endangered furs is telling people that it was ok to kill this beautiful cat for it's fur & they are ok making money on it. Please know that I am not trying to judge you. I'm just try to let you know about it.

debzz101 I actually have a real Leopard fur from the 40's. It is stunning. But every time I look at it, I feel really sad that someone killed this beautiful animal for a coat. I don't wear it, I never will. But I will never sell it either. Have a great night.

allegrageller @debzz101 Whereas true activists realize that repurposing exotic fur harms the illegal trade. Try to rethink it a bit, you'll see where I am coming from. I bought a vintage snow leopard jacket (c. 1935) years ago, with a provenance of 7 owners. Its made of 20 snow leopards, now endangered. If we'd all bought NEW (poached/ illegal), that would mean 140 cats killed. 140 vs 20. See where I'm going here? If exotic lovers only bought vintage, we could reach a place of zero endangered killed.

allegrageller @debzz101 My advice is...stop trolling sellers on Posh who are actually contributing to the reduction of poaching, and go spend your energy on a more worthwhile cause, like the decimation of pangolins in the wild because the Chinese think their keratin scales cure cancer. Selling vintage exotic fur is responsible and ethical.

debzz101 @allegrageller Thanks, but I really do not need your advise, lol. You can be as pissed off as you want. I didn't make the law. Oh, and by the way? Poshmark states that it is against their rules for anyone to sell endangered furs on here.

allegrageller
allegrageller @debzz101 Don't you have anything better to do than troll fur sellers on Posh? Go save some abandoned puppies or something. Sheesh. Some 'activist'. Or did you mean 'Annoying Posh Police Activist'?
